Lohri- A Festival of Regalement

Lohri, a vibrant and joyous festival celebrated primarily in North India, holds a special place in the hearts of people. It marks the end of winter and the onset of longer days, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness. Gateway International School’s Fraternity celebrated Lohri on 13 January 2024 at School’s Athletic ground with the aim of fostering cultural awareness and unity among sta members. The programme included a variety of activities and performances, showcasing the rich tapestry of Indian culture.

The ceremonial lighting of the bonfire symbolized the arrival of longer days and the end of winter. Everyone gathered around the bonfire, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. Teachers presented a collaborative cultural performance, enhancing the overall vibrancy of the event. To enhance the cultural immersion, all were encouraged to dress in traditional attire. This added a colourful and festive dimension to the celebration. Traditional Lohri delicacies, including rewari, peanuts, and sesame seeds, were distributed among all the sta members. This not only added to the festive spirit but also allowed everyone to savour the flavours associated with the celebration
